Like a Tumbleweed

from Across this Sea by Martin van de Vrugt

/

lyrics

We were young and we were wild and free
as we formed ourselfes a folk-rock band
I used to take what ever came to me
knowing I would have much time at hand
But I had to let my friends down
though friendship really ment a lot to me
I just wandered down that lonesome road
looking for what ever more to see

She was done fighting wildfires
just before she ever showed up here
And I was graving for a miracle
to chase away all the grief and fear
She surely made my heart sing
ripped it out and threw it back again
Then she took off like a tumbleweed
leaving me here with a lot to mend

She surely made my heart sing
ripped it out and threw it back again
Then she took off like a tumbleweed
leaving me here with a lot to mend

Sometimes friends let you down
Though friendship really means the world to me
When I look into my grandchild's eyes
I know there is nothing more to need
no more to need
no more to need
